Izvedba Jokera u “Vitezu tame” je fenomenalna, ali nipošto se smije zaboraviti ni jednako sjajna uloga Heatha Ledgera u “Planini Brokeback” (“Brokeback Mountain”, 2005.). Ako je Joker definitivna Ledgerova izvedba, kauboj Ennis Del Mar je definirajuća.

Upravo je s ulogom u “Planini Brokeback” eksplodirao Ledgerov potencijal iz prijašnjih filmova (npr. “Bal čudovišta”) i mladi Australac se pokazao kao glumac najviše dramske klase. Njegova prerana smrt 22. siječnja 2008., u dobi od nepunih 29 godina, veliki je gubitak za svjetsko glumište i kinematografiju.

Heath je, osobno, možda i najneprežaljeniji glumac. Potpisnik ovih redaka nije, primjerice, s Jamesom Deanom osjećao generacijsku bliskost kao s Ledgerom (obojica smo 1979. godište), a pratio je glumčev razvoj u realnom vremenu od njegovih početaka (“10 razloga zašto te mrzim”, “Patriot”, “Legenda o vitezu”...) do “Brokeback Mountain” i “The Dark Knight” kao vrhunaca karijere koja se mogla nastaviti.

Na neki način taj “nastavak” se ogleda u “Planini Brokeback”, ponajboljem filmu redatelja Anga Leeja (“Ledena oluja”, “Tigar i zmaj”). Naime, Heath glumi Ennisa u rasponu od dvije dekade i s likom je doživio godine koje u stvarnosti nažalost nije, bivajući glumački sve zreliji prema kraju filma. Priča se proteže od 1963., kad je Ennis imao 19 godina, pa sve do početka osamdesetih.

Gledati ionako tužan i melankoličan film danas je puno teže nego 2005. i još više navodi na pitanje “što bi bilo da je bilo”, tj. razmišljanje o životu, smrti, gubitku, prazninama u srcu, neispunjenim snovima, prolasku vremena, svemu što je u srži Leejevog remek-djela.

Etiketirati “Brokeback Mountain” kao “gay vestern”, kao što se još uvijek etiketira, pojednostavljuje emotivno i egzistencijalno kompleksan film. Okej, ekranizirajući kratku priču Annie Proulx, tajvanski redatelj Lee je dekonstruirao i subvertirao mačizam kauboja i vesterna kao žanra, sliku i priliku mitskog, ikoničkog alfa-mužjačkog “marlboro man” lika površinski utjelovljena u Ennisu.

Sve što se prije moglo čitati između redaka u nekim vesternima, recimo “Crvenoj rijeci” Howarda Hawksa (seksualne aluzije u sceni kad likovi Montgomeryja Clifta i Johna Irelanda jedan drugome pokazuju pištolje), u “Planini Brokeback” se čita jasno, bez dešifriranja (homo)seksualnosti.

Jednako tako, “Brokeback Mountain” je širom otvorio vrata za filmove gay tematike ne samo u festivalskoj, već i “mainstream” kinematografiji: bez Leejevog modernog klasika tko zna bi li se snimili “Adelin život”, “Carol”, “Ljeto za Sangaile”, “Portret djevojke koja izgara”, “Amonit”, “Svijet koji dolazi”, “Šape pasje”...

No, kako je “Planina Brokeback” nastala u vrijeme kad LGTB filmovi nisu postali politički korektna hollywoodska agenda ponekad i dvojbene iskrenosti nauštrb obvezne isporuke “poruke”, Leejev uradak još više djeluje kao iskrena nesretna/tragična univerzalna priča o zabranjenoj ljubavi i neproživljenim, protraćenim (zajedničkim) životima.

To što su akteri priče dva muškarca samo mijenja spolni predznak na romansi većoj od života poput “Mostova okruga Madison”. Pa opet, Ennis i Jack Twist (odlični Jake Gyllenhaal) tvrde da nisu “homići” nakon što se, pijani i usamljeni, jedne večeri prepuste strastima u šatoru čuvajući ovce na titularnoj planini.

”Ovo se događa samo ovdje”, rezolutan je Ennis, odnosno što se dogodi na planini Brokeback, ostaje na planini Brokeback. Međutim, kad nakon rastanka s Jackom (“Vidimo se valjda...”) šutljivi, stoički Ennis stane sa strane iza prve kuće i brizne u plač, skrivajući suze šeširom, jasno je da su zbivanja na planini Brokeback u njemu probudila nešto snažno što ne može ili ne želi verbalizirati, pa i kanalizirati.

Kad je bio klinac, otac je Ennisa odveo da vidi lokalnog muškarca isprebijanog do smrti jer je živio s drugim muškarcem kako slučajno ne bi jednog dana i sam pošao njegovim tragom. Zato se Ennis srami svojih osjećaja i potiskuje ih. Zato je odbio Jackovu ideju da žive zajedno na nekom ranču.

”Dva muškarca da žive zajedno... ne. Ako ne možeš promijeniti to, izdrži”, rekao je Ennis kojega će odbijanje suživota s Jackom proganjati dok se njih dvojica periodički nalaze i kradu zajedničke trenutke pod izlikom da idu “pecati ribu”, što je priča za supruge Almu i Laureen (izvrsna Michelle Williams, vrlo dobra Anne Hathaway) s kojima žive konvencionalne živote u rutinskim brakovima.

S nečim takvim može se poistovijetiti svatko tko je zanijekao nešto zbog nečega, potiskivao neke svoje osjećaje i čuvao tajne od okoline, zamišljao drukčiji život od života kakav živi, stao na raskrižju umjesto da produži dalje. Svatko tko ima neku svoju “planinu Brokeback” kao jedino sigurno mjesto, utopijski komad mira i sreće.

Možda sve to ne bi bilo tako poistovjetljivo da nije Ledgera. Zahvaljujući glumcu Ennisovu čežnju, usamljenost, bol i žaljenje možemo osjetiti i opipati. Nakon što Ennis kaže Jacku “Zašto me ne pustiš na miru? Zbog tebe sam takav, nisam nigdje, nemam ništa”, vjerujemo mu i osjećamo svaku riječ.

Frajer koji bi pogledom mogao pomicati brda i doline, kopni i implodira iznutra, osuđuje sebe na samoizgnanstvo, izgubljen u vremenu i prostoru daleko od planine Brokeback. Ledger je toliko dobar da je to bolno za gledati.

Dvije nominacije, jedan Oscar

Heath Ledger je osvojio prvu Oscar nominaciju u kategoriji glavne muške uloge za "Planinu Brokeback", a kipić je te godine pripao Philipu Seymouru Hoffmanu za "Capotea". Ledger je opet bio nominiran za sporednu mušku ulogu u "Vitezu tame", i to posthumno, a nominacija je na kraju bila potvrđena.

Izvedba Jokera u “Vitezu tame” je fenomenalna, ali nipošto se smije zaboraviti ni jednako sjajna uloga Heatha Ledgera u “Planini Brokeback” (“Brokeback Mountain”, 2005.). Ako je Joker definitivna Ledgerova izvedba, kauboj Ennis Del Mar je definirajuća.

Upravo je s ulogom u “Planini Brokeback” eksplodirao Ledgerov potencijal iz prijašnjih filmova (npr. “Bal čudovišta”) i mladi Australac se pokazao kao glumac najviše dramske klase. Njegova prerana smrt 22. siječnja 2008., u dobi od nepunih 29 godina, veliki je gubitak za svjetsko glumište i kinematografiju.

Heath je, osobno, možda i najneprežaljeniji glumac. Potpisnik ovih redaka nije, primjerice, s Jamesom Deanom osjećao generacijsku bliskost kao s Ledgerom (obojica smo 1979. godište), a pratio je glumčev razvoj u realnom vremenu od njegovih početaka (“10 razloga zašto te mrzim”, “Patriot”, “Legenda o vitezu”...) do “Brokeback Mountain” i “The Dark Knight” kao vrhunaca karijere koja se mogla nastaviti.

Na neki način taj “nastavak” se ogleda u “Planini Brokeback”, ponajboljem filmu redatelja Anga Leeja (“Ledena oluja”, “Tigar i zmaj”). Naime, Heath glumi Ennisa u rasponu od dvije dekade i s likom je doživio godine koje u stvarnosti nažalost nije, bivajući glumački sve zreliji prema kraju filma. Priča se proteže od 1963., kad je Ennis imao 19 godina, pa sve do početka osamdesetih.

Gledati ionako tužan i melankoličan film danas je puno teže nego 2005. i još više navodi na pitanje “što bi bilo da je bilo”, tj. razmišljanje o životu, smrti, gubitku, prazninama u srcu, neispunjenim snovima, prolasku vremena, svemu što je u srži Leejevog remek-djela.

Etiketirati “Brokeback Mountain” kao “gay vestern”, kao što se još uvijek etiketira, pojednostavljuje emotivno i egzistencijalno kompleksan film. Okej, ekranizirajući kratku priču Annie Proulx, tajvanski redatelj Lee je dekonstruirao i subvertirao mačizam kauboja i vesterna kao žanra, sliku i priliku mitskog, ikoničkog alfa-mužjačkog “marlboro man” lika površinski utjelovljena u Ennisu.

Sve što se prije moglo čitati između redaka u nekim vesternima, recimo “Crvenoj rijeci” Howarda Hawksa (seksualne aluzije u sceni kad likovi Montgomeryja Clifta i Johna Irelanda jedan drugome pokazuju pištolje), u “Planini Brokeback” se čita jasno, bez dešifriranja (homo)seksualnosti.

Jednako tako, “Brokeback Mountain” je širom otvorio vrata za filmove gay tematike ne samo u festivalskoj, već i “mainstream” kinematografiji: bez Leejevog modernog klasika tko zna bi li se snimili “Adelin život”, “Carol”, “Ljeto za Sangaile”, “Portret djevojke koja izgara”, “Amonit”, “Svijet koji dolazi”, “Šape pasje”...

No, kako je “Planina Brokeback” nastala u vrijeme kad LGTB filmovi nisu postali politički korektna hollywoodska agenda ponekad i dvojbene iskrenosti nauštrb obvezne isporuke “poruke”, Leejev uradak još više djeluje kao iskrena nesretna/tragična univerzalna priča o zabranjenoj ljubavi i neproživljenim, protraćenim (zajedničkim) životima.

To što su akteri priče dva muškarca samo mijenja spolni predznak na romansi većoj od života poput “Mostova okruga Madison”. Pa opet, Ennis i Jack Twist (odlični Jake Gyllenhaal) tvrde da nisu “homići” nakon što se, pijani i usamljeni, jedne večeri prepuste strastima u šatoru čuvajući ovce na titularnoj planini.

”Ovo se događa samo ovdje”, rezolutan je Ennis, odnosno što se dogodi na planini Brokeback, ostaje na planini Brokeback. Međutim, kad nakon rastanka s Jackom (“Vidimo se valjda...”) šutljivi, stoički Ennis stane sa strane iza prve kuće i brizne u plač, skrivajući suze šeširom, jasno je da su zbivanja na planini Brokeback u njemu probudila nešto snažno što ne može ili ne želi verbalizirati, pa i kanalizirati.

Kad je bio klinac, otac je Ennisa odveo da vidi lokalnog muškarca isprebijanog do smrti jer je živio s drugim muškarcem kako slučajno ne bi jednog dana i sam pošao njegovim tragom. Zato se Ennis srami svojih osjećaja i potiskuje ih. Zato je odbio Jackovu ideju da žive zajedno na nekom ranču.

”Dva muškarca da žive zajedno... ne. Ako ne možeš promijeniti to, izdrži”, rekao je Ennis kojega će odbijanje suživota s Jackom proganjati dok se njih dvojica periodički nalaze i kradu zajedničke trenutke pod izlikom da idu “pecati ribu”, što je priča za supruge Almu i Laureen (izvrsna Michelle Williams, vrlo dobra Anne Hathaway) s kojima žive konvencionalne živote u rutinskim brakovima.

S nečim takvim može se poistovijetiti svatko tko je zanijekao nešto zbog nečega, potiskivao neke svoje osjećaje i čuvao tajne od okoline, zamišljao drukčiji život od života kakav živi, stao na raskrižju umjesto da produži dalje. Svatko tko ima neku svoju “planinu Brokeback” kao jedino sigurno mjesto, utopijski komad mira i sreće.

Možda sve to ne bi bilo tako poistovjetljivo da nije Ledgera. Zahvaljujući glumcu Ennisovu čežnju, usamljenost, bol i žaljenje možemo osjetiti i opipati. Nakon što Ennis kaže Jacku “Zašto me ne pustiš na miru? Zbog tebe sam takav, nisam nigdje, nemam ništa”, vjerujemo mu i osjećamo svaku riječ.

Frajer koji bi pogledom mogao pomicati brda i doline, kopni i implodira iznutra, osuđuje sebe na samoizgnanstvo, izgubljen u vremenu i prostoru daleko od planine Brokeback. Ledger je toliko dobar da je to bolno za gledati.

Dvije nominacije, jedan Oscar

Heath Ledger je osvojio prvu Oscar nominaciju u kategoriji glavne muške uloge za "Planinu Brokeback", a kipić je te godine pripao Philipu Seymouru Hoffmanu za "Capotea". Ledger je opet bio nominiran za sporednu mušku ulogu u "Vitezu tame", i to posthumno, a nominacija je na kraju bila potvrđena.

‘Planina Brokeback‘: Kauboju Ledgeru s ljubavlju

Izvedba Jokera u “Vitezu tame” je fenomenalna, ali nipošto se smije zaboraviti ni jednako sjajna uloga Heatha Ledgera u “Planini Brokeback” (“Brokeback Mountain”, 2005.). Ako je Joker definitivna Ledgerova izvedba, kauboj Ennis Del Mar je definirajuća.

Upravo je s ulogom u “Planini Brokeback” eksplodirao Ledgerov potencijal iz prijašnjih filmova (npr. “Bal čudovišta”) i mladi Australac se pokazao kao glumac najviše dramske klase. Njegova prerana smrt 22. siječnja 2008., u dobi od nepunih 29 godina, veliki je gubitak za svjetsko glumište i kinematografiju.

Heath je, osobno, možda i najneprežaljeniji glumac. Potpisnik ovih redaka nije, primjerice, s Jamesom Deanom osjećao generacijsku bliskost kao s Ledgerom (obojica smo 1979. godište), a pratio je glumčev razv...
