Odrednica vremena bitna je za triler "The Little Things" s čak trojicom oskarovaca u glavnim ulogama (Denzel Washington, Rami Malek, Jared Leto). Priča datira u devedesete, razdoblje najveće popularnosti trilera o serijskim ubojicama zahvaljujući filmovima "Kad jaganjci utihnu" i "Sedam".

U tom periodu je John Lee Hancock napisao izvoran scenarij koji je, eto, realizirao gotovo 30 godina kasnije. Vrijeme je, međutim, išlo u korist "Malim stvarima" koje odišu žanrovskim devedesetima, toliko da dijelom izgledaju kao film iz neke minule ere, snimljen negdje 1996.-1999. i ostavljen na polici Warner Brosa.

Nekad se ovakav tip ostvarenja ne bi isticao na kinorepertoaru, odnosno bio bi samo još jedan "serial-killer thriller" nakon "Jennifer 8", "Imitatora", "Kolekcionara", "Ubojice Sudnjeg dana"...

Slični trileri snimali su frekventno, a u njima je, podsjetimo, glumio i Leto ("Lovac i ubojica"), ne samo Washington ("Sakupljač kostiju").

Sada se, pak, snimaju znatno rjeđe i nisu nešto posebno ("Snjegović", "Ubojice s razglednice"), zbog čega Hancockov superiorniji film djeluje kao osvježenje, dobrodošao povratak američkih trilera stare škole, iako u startu podsjeća na niz serijsko-ubilačkih ostvarenja devedesetih. Ipak, "The Little Things" razlikuju tzv. male stvari od filmova kao što su "The Bone Collector".

"Male stvari su bitne", govori Joe Deacon zvani Deke (Washington), nekadašnji policajac iz Los Angelesa, degradiran u zamjenika u Bakersfieldu nakon jednog neriješenog slučaja. U ovom slučaju male stvari su veliki glumci kadri pretvoriti triler u karakternu studiju, kao i niz sitnih detalja što sugeriraju Hancockove moralno slojevite teme ili motive, poput krupnog križa na hollywoodskom brdu, rijetko viđenog u filmovima.

Vrag je u detaljima, Jared također. Dekea muči grižnja savjesti i noćima ga posjećuju duhovi ubijenih djevojaka, manifestirajući mu se pred očima i remeteći miran san. Veteran kao nekakvo iskupljenje vidi rad s ambicioznim mladim detektivom Jimom Baxterom (Malek) na friškom slučaju serijskog ubojice.

"Killer" lako može, ali i ne mora biti jezivi čudak i poklonik crne kronike Albert Sparma (Leto), a čiji "modus operandi" podsjeća na nekadašnji. Pripadnik mlađe generacije i "nove škole", Jim naziva Dekea "Columbo" i "Kojak", sugerirajući koliko je zastario, možda i ciljajući na sam film. "Ništa se nije promijenilo", tvrdi Deke, ali nešto ipak jest.

"Male stvari" su triler devedesetih s pogledom prema prvoj dekadi novog milenija i ambivalentnim filmovima o opsesivnoj, egzistencijalnoj potrazi za "fantomskim" serijskim ubojicom u začaranim krugovima ("Zakletva", "Sjećanja na ubojstvo", "Zodijak") i kopanjem praznih grobova žrtava u pustinji ("Bilo jednom u Anatoliji").

Jedna potencijalna žrtva će pjevati na sav glas vozeći auto kao u "The Silence Of The Lambs", a naizgledni ubojica odvesti policajca izvan grada u pustinju, ali kad dođu tamo "The Little Things" postaje više "Once Upon a Time In Anatolia" nego "Seven".

Takve male stvari uzdižu Hancockov film iznad trilerske rutine, prosjeka, šablone, kao i neke vrlo dojmljivo režirane scene poput igre mačke i miša, hvatala i kukala na autocesti između Sparme i Dekea. Uzdiže ga i gluma. Washington i Leto su na visini zadatka, naročito potonji u još jednoj metodskoj ulozi, tj. transformaciji. Leto izaziva nemir i nepredvidljivost u kadru, što odgovara uznemirujućem liku dvojbene karakterizacije i motivacije.

Ostavljajući Maleka u drugom planu u njegovoj prvoj velikoj ulozi nakon "Bohemian Rhapsody", Leto bez većih problema ide oči u oči s glumačkom veličinom poput dvostrukog oskarovca Washingtona. Malek ima najslabije napisani lik i Jim se jedva registrira tek kad počne opsesivnošću nalikovati na Dekea, istovremeno kako njihova karakterizacija biva sve sličnija i njegova kemija s Washingtonom sve solidnija.

Prošlost jednoga postaje budućnost drugoga, a preko toga bi Hancock htio prelomiti film, pa i žanr trilera. Radnja je, čini se, namjerno ambijentirana u 1990., godinu dana prije izlaska "Kad jaganjci utihnu" koji je podigao val "serial-killer thrillera" devedesetih. Mogu li "Male stvari" napraviti nešto slično 2020-ih?

Najgledaniji film u američkim i hrvatskim kinima

"The Little Things" je osvojio vrh američkog box-officea minulog premijernog vikenda i detronizirao Neesonov akcić "The Marksman", a zaradio je vrlo solidnih 4.8 milijuna dolara, unatoč tome što je u Americi istovremeno dostupan na HBO Maxu. I onda nam kažu da je kino mrtvo... Prvo mjesto gledanosti film je zauzeo i u hrvatskim kinima, gdje ga je preko vikenda vidjelo 8243 gledatelja, više nego inače fino gledanog "Zaštitnika" u deset dana, a utržio je 307.304 kuna.

Odrednica vremena bitna je za triler "The Little Things" s čak trojicom oskarovaca u glavnim ulogama (Denzel Washington, Rami Malek, Jared Leto). Priča datira u devedesete, razdoblje najveće popularnosti trilera o serijskim ubojicama zahvaljujući filmovima "Kad jaganjci utihnu" i "Sedam".

U tom periodu je John Lee Hancock napisao izvoran scenarij koji je, eto, realizirao gotovo 30 godina kasnije. Vrijeme je, međutim, išlo u korist "Malim stvarima" koje odišu žanrovskim devedesetima, toliko da dijelom izgledaju kao film iz neke minule ere, snimljen negdje 1996.-1999. i ostavljen na polici Warner Brosa.

Nekad se ovakav tip ostvarenja ne bi isticao na kinorepertoaru, odnosno bio bi samo još jedan "serial-killer thriller" nakon "Jennifer 8", "Imitatora", "Kolekcionara", "Ubojice Sudnjeg dana"...

Slični trileri snimali su frekventno, a u njima je, podsjetimo, glumio i Leto ("Lovac i ubojica"), ne samo Washington ("Sakupljač kostiju").

Sada se, pak, snimaju znatno rjeđe i nisu nešto posebno ("Snjegović", "Ubojice s razglednice"), zbog čega Hancockov superiorniji film djeluje kao osvježenje, dobrodošao povratak američkih trilera stare škole, iako u startu podsjeća na niz serijsko-ubilačkih ostvarenja devedesetih. Ipak, "The Little Things" razlikuju tzv. male stvari od filmova kao što su "The Bone Collector".

"Male stvari su bitne", govori Joe Deacon zvani Deke (Washington), nekadašnji policajac iz Los Angelesa, degradiran u zamjenika u Bakersfieldu nakon jednog neriješenog slučaja. U ovom slučaju male stvari su veliki glumci kadri pretvoriti triler u karakternu studiju, kao i niz sitnih detalja što sugeriraju Hancockove moralno slojevite teme ili motive, poput krupnog križa na hollywoodskom brdu, rijetko viđenog u filmovima.

Vrag je u detaljima, Jared također. Dekea muči grižnja savjesti i noćima ga posjećuju duhovi ubijenih djevojaka, manifestirajući mu se pred očima i remeteći miran san. Veteran kao nekakvo iskupljenje vidi rad s ambicioznim mladim detektivom Jimom Baxterom (Malek) na friškom slučaju serijskog ubojice.

"Killer" lako može, ali i ne mora biti jezivi čudak i poklonik crne kronike Albert Sparma (Leto), a čiji "modus operandi" podsjeća na nekadašnji. Pripadnik mlađe generacije i "nove škole", Jim naziva Dekea "Columbo" i "Kojak", sugerirajući koliko je zastario, možda i ciljajući na sam film. "Ništa se nije promijenilo", tvrdi Deke, ali nešto ipak jest.

"Male stvari" su triler devedesetih s pogledom prema prvoj dekadi novog milenija i ambivalentnim filmovima o opsesivnoj, egzistencijalnoj potrazi za "fantomskim" serijskim ubojicom u začaranim krugovima ("Zakletva", "Sjećanja na ubojstvo", "Zodijak") i kopanjem praznih grobova žrtava u pustinji ("Bilo jednom u Anatoliji").

Jedna potencijalna žrtva će pjevati na sav glas vozeći auto kao u "The Silence Of The Lambs", a naizgledni ubojica odvesti policajca izvan grada u pustinju, ali kad dođu tamo "The Little Things" postaje više "Once Upon a Time In Anatolia" nego "Seven".

Takve male stvari uzdižu Hancockov film iznad trilerske rutine, prosjeka, šablone, kao i neke vrlo dojmljivo režirane scene poput igre mačke i miša, hvatala i kukala na autocesti između Sparme i Dekea. Uzdiže ga i gluma. Washington i Leto su na visini zadatka, naročito potonji u još jednoj metodskoj ulozi, tj. transformaciji. Leto izaziva nemir i nepredvidljivost u kadru, što odgovara uznemirujućem liku dvojbene karakterizacije i motivacije.

Ostavljajući Maleka u drugom planu u njegovoj prvoj velikoj ulozi nakon "Bohemian Rhapsody", Leto bez većih problema ide oči u oči s glumačkom veličinom poput dvostrukog oskarovca Washingtona. Malek ima najslabije napisani lik i Jim se jedva registrira tek kad počne opsesivnošću nalikovati na Dekea, istovremeno kako njihova karakterizacija biva sve sličnija i njegova kemija s Washingtonom sve solidnija.

Prošlost jednoga postaje budućnost drugoga, a preko toga bi Hancock htio prelomiti film, pa i žanr trilera. Radnja je, čini se, namjerno ambijentirana u 1990., godinu dana prije izlaska "Kad jaganjci utihnu" koji je podigao val "serial-killer thrillera" devedesetih. Mogu li "Male stvari" napraviti nešto slično 2020-ih?

Najgledaniji film u američkim i hrvatskim kinima

"The Little Things" je osvojio vrh američkog box-officea minulog premijernog vikenda i detronizirao Neesonov akcić "The Marksman", a zaradio je vrlo solidnih 4.8 milijuna dolara, unatoč tome što je u Americi istovremeno dostupan na HBO Maxu. I onda nam kažu da je kino mrtvo... Prvo mjesto gledanosti film je zauzeo i u hrvatskim kinima, gdje ga je preko vikenda vidjelo 8243 gledatelja, više nego inače fino gledanog "Zaštitnika" u deset dana, a utržio je 307.304 kuna.
