Creeper je bio jedan od naizglednih nastavljača tradicije upečatljivih antagonista iz slasher horora, koja se proteže od Leatherfacea i Michaela Myersa, preko Jasona Voorheesa i Freddyja Krugera, do Pinheada, Candymana i Ghostfacea. Monstruozni demonski serijski ubojica kreatora Victora Salve stupio je na hororsku scenu 2001., u razdoblju kad je slashere na životu više-manje održavao samo “Scream” u svom trećem izdanju.

Film “Jeepers Creepers” pokazao se komercijalno više nego uspješan s obzirom na budžet, kao i njegov nastavak iz 2003. godine (oba su zaradila više od 60 milijuna dolara u svjetskim kinima). Međutim, Creeper je potom dugo vremena proveo u hibernaciji, moguće i zbog veće dominacije natprirodnih horora na tržištu (“Paranormalno”, itd.).

Kad se ponovno probudio 2017., publika je zaboravila antagonista koji ionako nije uspio ući u panteon hororskih velikana i kakav-takav uspjeh je izostao. Ipak, Creeper je dovoljno interesantan negativac da je dobio još jednu priliku nakon što su se slasheri vratili u stilu s novim primjercima “Noći vještica”, “Candymana” i “Vriska”, realiziranim na granici “reboota” i “sequela” koji ignorira neke prethodnike.

”Jeepers Creepers: Reinkarnacija vraga” (“Jeepers Creepers: Reborn”) pokušava napraviti nešto slično s matičnim serijalom, ali radi to s puno manje uspjeha, unatoč tračcima potencijala. Novi film se za početak preračunao kao nastavak originala.

Priča ističe da se Creeper budi svake 23 godine da bi lovio ljude 23 dana prije iduće hibernacije, a “Jeepers Creepers: Reinkarnacija vraga” je imao kinopremijeru krajem ljeta 2022. (u hrvatske “online” videoteke stigao početkom 2023.) umjesto da se “čuvao” za 2024. ako se već drži neke kronologije.

Potencijal je naslućen u prvih 15 minuta filma koji redateljski potpisuje Timo Vuorensola, autor “Željeznog neba” i “Željeznog neba 2”, ali nije do kraja ispunjen. Prolog je prilično dojmljiv kao “Jeepers Creepers” odgovor na Spielbergov ”Duel”. Stari par (veterani žanra Dee Wallace i Gary Graham) na proputovanju jugom Amerike proganja Creeperov kamion.

Ispada da je to snimka iz emisije na temu morbidnih misterija i urbanih legendi s američkog juga koju Chase (Imran Adams) pokazuje curi Laine (Sydney Craven) dok se nalaze na putu prema festivalu horora “cosplay” vrste. Chase je horor fan i on nagovara curu da se obuče u horor likove poput Krugera i antagonistice filma “Jennifer’s Body”.

“Jeepers Creepers: Reborn” je naizgled tipovao krenuti postmoderno-samosvjesnim “meta” koracima “Screama”, no usput se pogubio i pretvorio u nezanimljivu “creepersku” verziju “Rosemaryne bebe” kad se vlasnica lokalne “voodoo” trgovine (Georgia Goodman) zainteresira za Laine i, znajući da je trudna prije nje same, pobrine se da upravo ona osvoji boravak u sobi za bijeg u Creeperovoj kući zajedno s ekipom internetske emisije.

Na putu do sobe za bijeg Chase će vidjeti Creepera na njihovoj snimci i pitati jednog od njih je li ga stvarno snimio ili je to neki “cosplay” seronja. Ispostavit će se da je to “stvarno” Creeper, ali film većinski djeluje kao amaterski “cosplay” upriličen u repetitivnom “escape room” okruženju s umjetnim setovima i neuvjerljivim efektima. Od Creepera nikad Krugera.

Creeper je bio jedan od naizglednih nastavljača tradicije upečatljivih antagonista iz slasher horora, koja se proteže od Leatherfacea i Michaela Myersa, preko Jasona Voorheesa i Freddyja Krugera, do Pinheada, Candymana i Ghostfacea. Monstruozni demonski serijski ubojica kreatora Victora Salve stupio je na hororsku scenu 2001., u razdoblju kad je slashere na životu više-manje održavao samo “Scream” u svom trećem izdanju.

Film “Jeepers Creepers” pokazao se komercijalno više nego uspješan s obzirom na budžet, kao i njegov nastavak iz 2003. godine (oba su zaradila više od 60 milijuna dolara u svjetskim kinima). Međutim, Creeper je potom dugo vremena proveo u hibernaciji, moguće i zbog veće dominacije natprirodnih horora na tržištu (“Paranormalno”, itd.).

Kad se ponovno probudio 2017., publika je zaboravila antagonista koji ionako nije uspio ući u panteon hororskih velikana i kakav-takav uspjeh je izostao. Ipak, Creeper je dovoljno interesantan negativac da je dobio još jednu priliku nakon što su se slasheri vratili u stilu s novim primjercima “Noći vještica”, “Candymana” i “Vriska”, realiziranim na granici “reboota” i “sequela” koji ignorira neke prethodnike.

”Jeepers Creepers: Reinkarnacija vraga” (“Jeepers Creepers: Reborn”) pokušava napraviti nešto slično s matičnim serijalom, ali radi to s puno manje uspjeha, unatoč tračcima potencijala. Novi film se za početak preračunao kao nastavak originala.

Priča ističe da se Creeper budi svake 23 godine da bi lovio ljude 23 dana prije iduće hibernacije, a “Jeepers Creepers: Reinkarnacija vraga” je imao kinopremijeru krajem ljeta 2022. (u hrvatske “online” videoteke stigao početkom 2023.) umjesto da se “čuvao” za 2024. ako se već drži neke kronologije.

Potencijal je naslućen u prvih 15 minuta filma koji redateljski potpisuje Timo Vuorensola, autor “Željeznog neba” i “Željeznog neba 2”, ali nije do kraja ispunjen. Prolog je prilično dojmljiv kao “Jeepers Creepers” odgovor na Spielbergov ”Duel”. Stari par (veterani žanra Dee Wallace i Gary Graham) na proputovanju jugom Amerike proganja Creeperov kamion.

Ispada da je to snimka iz emisije na temu morbidnih misterija i urbanih legendi s američkog juga koju Chase (Imran Adams) pokazuje curi Laine (Sydney Craven) dok se nalaze na putu prema festivalu horora “cosplay” vrste. Chase je horor fan i on nagovara curu da se obuče u horor likove poput Krugera i antagonistice filma “Jennifer’s Body”.

“Jeepers Creepers: Reborn” je naizgled tipovao krenuti postmoderno-samosvjesnim “meta” koracima “Screama”, no usput se pogubio i pretvorio u nezanimljivu “creepersku” verziju “Rosemaryne bebe” kad se vlasnica lokalne “voodoo” trgovine (Georgia Goodman) zainteresira za Laine i, znajući da je trudna prije nje same, pobrine se da upravo ona osvoji boravak u sobi za bijeg u Creeperovoj kući zajedno s ekipom internetske emisije.

Na putu do sobe za bijeg Chase će vidjeti Creepera na njihovoj snimci i pitati jednog od njih je li ga stvarno snimio ili je to neki “cosplay” seronja. Ispostavit će se da je to “stvarno” Creeper, ali film većinski djeluje kao amaterski “cosplay” upriličen u repetitivnom “escape room” okruženju s umjetnim setovima i neuvjerljivim efektima. Od Creepera nikad Krugera.
