Natezanje oko početka prikazivanja erotskog trilera “Deep Water” (“Duboka voda”) dovelo je do toga da je povratnički film poznatog redatelja Adriana Lynea doživio premijeru tri, tj. dvije godine nakon što je snimljen i planiran za kinodistribuciju.

Ilustracije radi, u tom intervalu glavni glumci Ben Affleck i Ana de Armas uspjeli su postati par i prekinuti vezu. Korona je najviše kumovala odgodama, kao i činjenica da studio Walt Disney Pictures, specijaliziran za blockbustere obligatornog “PG-13” predikata, nije znao što da radi s “Deep Water” kao filmom za odraslu publiku koji je dobio u vlasništvo nakon kupnje kompanije 20th Century Fox.

Na koncu je “Duboka voda” procurila proteklog vikenda na streaming servis Hulu za američku publiku i na Amazonu za svjetsku. Premijera se poklopila paralelno s proslavom 30. godišnjice legendarnog erotskog trilera “Basic Instinct” i nedugo prije obilježavanja 20. obljetnice Lyneova prethodnog ostvarenja “Unfaithful”.

U usporedbi s navedenim naslovima “Deep Water” izvlači deblji kraj, no umije biti solidan erotski triler i podsjetiti na žanr koji je upravo Lyne pomogao oblikovati. Tajming premijere je zapravo okej: De Armas je postala još veća zvijezda nakon uloge u novom “Bondu” i film se naslanja na recentni “revival” (erotskih) trilera devedesetih i potragu za nekim novim “Sirovim strastima” ili barem “U posljednjoj fazi”, “Potezom lovca”, “Oglas donosi smrt”...

Erotski trileri su stagnirali u Hollywoodu od “Prvog grijeha” i “Nevjerne” s početka 2000-ih, a i u ostalim kinematografijama bili rijetke zvjerke u 2010-ima (“Elle”, “Sluškinja”), nakon što se erotika preselila u festivalske drame (“Sanjari”, “Adelin život”, “Nimfomanka”) i na TV (“Igra prijestolja”). “Duboka voda” je u tom novom “(erotic) thriller” valu najuspjeliji i najzanimljiviji uradak uz “Voajere”, za klasu bolji od “Fatalne” i “Žene na prozoru”, dok izgleda kao remek-djelo naspram “Besramnog”.

Iskusna redateljska ruka osjeti se iza kamere: Lyne je snimao štošta (“Flashdance”, “Jakobova ljestvica”), ali se profilirao kao majstor provokativne erotike i psihološko-seksualnog trilera ili drame s glasovitim filmovima kao što su “Devet i pol tjedana”, “Kobna privlačnost”, “Nemoralna ponuda”, nova “Lolita” i “Nevjerna”.

Bez Lyneova redateljskog obola tko zna bi li se erotski triler osamdesetih (“Tjelesna strast”, “Poštar uvijek zvoni dvaput”) dobacio do plodnih devedesetih (“Hot Spot”, “Sliver”, “Posljednje zavođenje”, “Boja noći”, “Divlja igra”...). S “Deep Water”, ekranizacijom romana čuvene spisateljice Patricije Highsmith, Lyne je poželio spojiti “prizore iz bračnog života” vlastitog filma “Unfaithful”, Kubrickova “Oči širom zatvorene” i Fincherove “Nestale” također s Affleckom u glavnoj ulozi.

Bračni par čine “jebeno bogati” Vic i Melinda van Allen, a na okupu ih samo drži kćerkica Trixie (Grace Jenkins). Ljubav je nestala, barem s Melindine strane, ali ona ostaje u braku s Vicom nakon dogovora iz moralne sive zone – dopušteno joj je izvanbračno šaranje da se ne razvede od njega.

Međutim, promiskuitetna Melinda zavodi tipove na domjencima ispred Vicovih očiju i ponaša se preslobodno, toliko da joj nije problem prošetati se gola ispred bejbisiterice. Vicu naizled ne smeta šaranje “prema vani”, no osjeća se da kipi iznutra, što je Lyneu okidač za sugestivnu psihoseksualnu tenziju filma.

Zaplet počinje kad Vic u trenutku pijanstva kaže Melindinu novom tipu da je ubio njezina prethodnog ljubavnika, izvjesnog Martina koji je nestao. “Bila je to šala”, veli Vic kad se pročuje što je rekao, ali kad Martina pronađu mrtvoga, kao i novog Melindina “lovera”, malo tko se smije, posebice znanac bračnog para, sumnjičavi pisac Don Wilson (Tracy Letts).

Je li posrijedi koincidencija ili Vic stvarno ubija ljubavnike nevjerne žene kao netko tko je radio čipove za dronove i neposredno sudjelovao u ubijanju? Ako ih ubija, radi li to zbog ljubomore ili zato što misli da bi Melindu takve stvari mogle uzbuditi kao izljev strasti i zapaliti ugaslu vatru među njima? Ako ih ne ubija, hoće li to nju razočarati kao finalna potvrda nestale strasti i emocije kakve ona provocira svojim ponašanjem? “Napokon neka emocija”, veli Melinda kad Vic u jednom trenu povisi glas.

Jednom kad se otkrije je li Vic ubojica ili ne, film postaje manje interesantan i juri prema užurbanom završetku s nekim rješenjima koja bi mogla iznervirati gledatelja (slanje ključne poruke u vožnji), ali ostaje intrigantan zbog ponuđenog odgovora na postavljena pitanja i prepoznatljivog redateljskog rukopisa. “Lyneovski” prizori iz bračnog života isprepleću kobnu privlačnost, nemoralnu ponudu i nevjer(n)u u perverzne umne igre disfunkcionalnih supružnika u toksičnom braku.

Talentirana gospođa Highsmith

Patricia Highsmith je napisala još neke romane koji su bili predlošci za filmove, poput "Nepoznatog iz Nord-Expressa" i "Talentiranog gospodina Ripleyja", a "Duboka voda" je već jednom ekranizirana, početkom osamdesetih u francuskoj kinematografiji ("Eaux Profondes" s Jean-Louisom Trintignantom i Isabelle Huppert). Scenaristi ove nove verzije su Zach Helm ("Otkucaji život") i Sam Levinson ("Euforija"). Neke od Melindinih ljubavnika glume Jacob Elordi ("Euphoria") i Finn Wittrock ("Ratched").

Natezanje oko početka prikazivanja erotskog trilera “Deep Water” (“Duboka voda”) dovelo je do toga da je povratnički film poznatog redatelja Adriana Lynea doživio premijeru tri, tj. dvije godine nakon što je snimljen i planiran za kinodistribuciju.

Ilustracije radi, u tom intervalu glavni glumci Ben Affleck i Ana de Armas uspjeli su postati par i prekinuti vezu. Korona je najviše kumovala odgodama, kao i činjenica da studio Walt Disney Pictures, specijaliziran za blockbustere obligatornog “PG-13” predikata, nije znao što da radi s “Deep Water” kao filmom za odraslu publiku koji je dobio u vlasništvo nakon kupnje kompanije 20th Century Fox.

Na koncu je “Duboka voda” procurila proteklog vikenda na streaming servis Hulu za američku publiku i na Amazonu za svjetsku. Premijera se poklopila paralelno s proslavom 30. godišnjice legendarnog erotskog trilera “Basic Instinct” i nedugo prije obilježavanja 20. obljetnice Lyneova prethodnog ostvarenja “Unfaithful”.

U usporedbi s navedenim naslovima “Deep Water” izvlači deblji kraj, no umije biti solidan erotski triler i podsjetiti na žanr koji je upravo Lyne pomogao oblikovati. Tajming premijere je zapravo okej: De Armas je postala još veća zvijezda nakon uloge u novom “Bondu” i film se naslanja na recentni “revival” (erotskih) trilera devedesetih i potragu za nekim novim “Sirovim strastima” ili barem “U posljednjoj fazi”, “Potezom lovca”, “Oglas donosi smrt”...

Erotski trileri su stagnirali u Hollywoodu od “Prvog grijeha” i “Nevjerne” s početka 2000-ih, a i u ostalim kinematografijama bili rijetke zvjerke u 2010-ima (“Elle”, “Sluškinja”), nakon što se erotika preselila u festivalske drame (“Sanjari”, “Adelin život”, “Nimfomanka”) i na TV (“Igra prijestolja”). “Duboka voda” je u tom novom “(erotic) thriller” valu najuspjeliji i najzanimljiviji uradak uz “Voajere”, za klasu bolji od “Fatalne” i “Žene na prozoru”, dok izgleda kao remek-djelo naspram “Besramnog”.

Iskusna redateljska ruka osjeti se iza kamere: Lyne je snimao štošta (“Flashdance”, “Jakobova ljestvica”), ali se profilirao kao majstor provokativne erotike i psihološko-seksualnog trilera ili drame s glasovitim filmovima kao što su “Devet i pol tjedana”, “Kobna privlačnost”, “Nemoralna ponuda”, nova “Lolita” i “Nevjerna”.

Bez Lyneova redateljskog obola tko zna bi li se erotski triler osamdesetih (“Tjelesna strast”, “Poštar uvijek zvoni dvaput”) dobacio do plodnih devedesetih (“Hot Spot”, “Sliver”, “Posljednje zavođenje”, “Boja noći”, “Divlja igra”...). S “Deep Water”, ekranizacijom romana čuvene spisateljice Patricije Highsmith, Lyne je poželio spojiti “prizore iz bračnog života” vlastitog filma “Unfaithful”, Kubrickova “Oči širom zatvorene” i Fincherove “Nestale” također s Affleckom u glavnoj ulozi.

Bračni par čine “jebeno bogati” Vic i Melinda van Allen, a na okupu ih samo drži kćerkica Trixie (Grace Jenkins). Ljubav je nestala, barem s Melindine strane, ali ona ostaje u braku s Vicom nakon dogovora iz moralne sive zone – dopušteno joj je izvanbračno šaranje da se ne razvede od njega.

Međutim, promiskuitetna Melinda zavodi tipove na domjencima ispred Vicovih očiju i ponaša se preslobodno, toliko da joj nije problem prošetati se gola ispred bejbisiterice. Vicu naizled ne smeta šaranje “prema vani”, no osjeća se da kipi iznutra, što je Lyneu okidač za sugestivnu psihoseksualnu tenziju filma.

Zaplet počinje kad Vic u trenutku pijanstva kaže Melindinu novom tipu da je ubio njezina prethodnog ljubavnika, izvjesnog Martina koji je nestao. “Bila je to šala”, veli Vic kad se pročuje što je rekao, ali kad Martina pronađu mrtvoga, kao i novog Melindina “lovera”, malo tko se smije, posebice znanac bračnog para, sumnjičavi pisac Don Wilson (Tracy Letts).

Je li posrijedi koincidencija ili Vic stvarno ubija ljubavnike nevjerne žene kao netko tko je radio čipove za dronove i neposredno sudjelovao u ubijanju? Ako ih ubija, radi li to zbog ljubomore ili zato što misli da bi Melindu takve stvari mogle uzbuditi kao izljev strasti i zapaliti ugaslu vatru među njima? Ako ih ne ubija, hoće li to nju razočarati kao finalna potvrda nestale strasti i emocije kakve ona provocira svojim ponašanjem? “Napokon neka emocija”, veli Melinda kad Vic u jednom trenu povisi glas.

Jednom kad se otkrije je li Vic ubojica ili ne, film postaje manje interesantan i juri prema užurbanom završetku s nekim rješenjima koja bi mogla iznervirati gledatelja (slanje ključne poruke u vožnji), ali ostaje intrigantan zbog ponuđenog odgovora na postavljena pitanja i prepoznatljivog redateljskog rukopisa. “Lyneovski” prizori iz bračnog života isprepleću kobnu privlačnost, nemoralnu ponudu i nevjer(n)u u perverzne umne igre disfunkcionalnih supružnika u toksičnom braku.

Talentirana gospođa Highsmith

Patricia Highsmith je napisala još neke romane koji su bili predlošci za filmove, poput "Nepoznatog iz Nord-Expressa" i "Talentiranog gospodina Ripleyja", a "Duboka voda" je već jednom ekranizirana, početkom osamdesetih u francuskoj kinematografiji ("Eaux Profondes" s Jean-Louisom Trintignantom i Isabelle Huppert). Scenaristi ove nove verzije su Zach Helm ("Otkucaji život") i Sam Levinson ("Euforija"). Neke od Melindinih ljubavnika glume Jacob Elordi ("Euphoria") i Finn Wittrock ("Ratched").
